The Internet and DIS line merchants have decided to close the Internet-DIS line for 3 hours every day starting October 16 if their cut is not stopped.
However, the strike was called off on Saturday at the request of the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications and the Minister of State for ICT and a meeting with the mayor of South City.
Mustafa Jabbar said: “These cables did not come together in one day. It has been deposited year after year. This has happened due to the lack of an alternative system. ISPs and cable operators are associated with these cables. People need the Internet and DIS lines at home. If there was an alternative, they wouldn’t hang it. They have to invest in their purse. “
“Now if you cut the way you are involved you can stop the service. Now you have to think if you can turn off the TV and the Internet.”
The minister said: “Our position is very clear; I don’t think this problem can be solved by taking such an abrupt decision.” “
The telecommunications minister said: “We have taken action 10 years ago. Our Ministry-BTRC began issuing NTTN licenses for its placement. So far six licenses have been issued. Mustafa Jabbar said: “When we licensed NTTNs, it did not say that they should be located in the alleys of Dhaka city. In this case, if you want to remove it, you will sit with NTTN. Because, ISP or Coab, nobody has the responsibility to do it. This is because they are forced to pull the stars because NTTN doesn’t have them. Customers will be deprived of the service if I remove it right now. ”
The telecommunications minister said: “This situation should be resolved with a cool head and in consultation with ISP-NTTN-BTRC users. Because from business to industry, education, banking, health, many are associated with it. Without the Internet, no one can think now. “
“If the Internet and television are off, what will happen to the education of the students? What will happen to the management of the banking-business-commerce-government sector? My government works with electronic documents, there is no other alternative than the Internet. “
