BNP Vice President Professor AZM Zahid Hossain said he died at 8:30 pm on Saturday while undergoing treatment at Labaid Hospital in Dhanmondi.
The Minister of State for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mosharraf Hossain, had 63 years in the quadripartite coalition government led by the BNP.
Dr. Zahid told bdnews24.com that AKM Mosharraf Hossain had been ill for a long time. Meanwhile, he was infected with coronavirus and was under treatment at this hospital.
One of Musharraf Hossain’s two sons is an expatriate in the United States. Family members said his body was being taken to Muktagachha in Mymensingh at night.

Mosharraf Hossain’s funeral will be held. He will then be buried in the family cemetery in Muktagachha.
AKM Mosharraf Hossain was the Secretary of the Government of Bangladesh. After retiring from service in 1996, he joined BNP politics. In 1996, he was elected Member of Parliament for the Mymensingh-5 Muktagachha constituency on a party nomination. He was also elected to Parliament in 2001. He later became the minister of state for energy and mineral resources in the four-party coalition government.
BNP Acting President Tarique Rahman and Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir mourned his death.
