BNP candidate Salahuddin Ahmed has demanded re-election by boycotting the electoral results by demanding the resignation of the government and the Electoral Commission alleging irregularities at the polls. In addition, in protest of the irregularities, he announced a manbandhan program in the constituency on Sunday at 2 pm.
He was speaking at a press conference at his main elections office on Saturday night.
Salahuddin Ahmed said: “Terrorists from the Awami League have harassed me in various ways since the first day of these elections. Even when I went to pray in the mosque, I was prevented from doing so. My birthright is to go to any mosque in this area and pray and ask for their votes and prayers. But I was not allowed to do that. “Every time we went to the media, people responded spontaneously and that’s when the Awami terrorists pounced on us.”
He said: ‘Awami terrorists have tortured our leaders and workers in various ways. You have seen our two sister agents humiliated and expelled from Duniya University. Also at RK Mission Chowdhury School, another of our officers was attacked and expelled. They have even helped him out.
The BNP candidate, complaining to the presidents, said: “Our agents have been expelled from almost all the centers. The centers where the agents have entered have also been evicted. But the presidents took no action. Although we repeatedly reported to the Returning Election Commission Official, he did not take any action. That is why we reject irregularities and demand re-election.
The BNP’s organizational secretary for the metropolitan south of Dhaka, Tanvir Ahmed Robin, and the BNP’s organizational secretary, Jatrabari Thana, Mizanur Rahman Bhandari, and other leaders and activists were present.
