Members of the Air Force, police and firefighters have recovered the wreckage of a World War II fighter plane while digging a pond in Lalmonirhat. Several bullets were also recovered at that time.
Members of the Air Force, police and fire service carried out the operation at noon on Saturday (October 18) in the village of Guriadah in the Gokunda junction of Sadar upazila.
They claim they were the wreckage of a war plane during WWII. Earlier on Friday (October 18) afternoon, he was seen while digging a pond in Rezaul in the Gudiyadaha Dararapar village of Gokunda junction in Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila.
Police and locals said Rezaul from Dararpar village in Guriadah started digging a pond on his land. At one point Friday afternoon, workers saw the wreckage from the back of a plane. According to the locals, the Sadar police went to the site and seized the site and stopped the excavation. The police sent news to the corresponding offices.
On Saturday morning (October 18), the Lalmonirhat Air Force Unit, the Lalmonirhat Fire Service and the police jointly began excavations to recover the remains of the aircraft. Meanwhile, eyewitnesses claimed that a ring used by the pilot and some ammunition were recovered from the wreckage.
It is believed to be an American warplane used in 1944 during World War II. The ring used by the dead pilot has also been recovered.
