A housewife (30) has been gang-raped in Rangabali upazila of Patuakhali.
The incident took place in the Charmargaret area of the Charmontaj union of the upazila on Friday evening.
However, the family claimed that the housewife was raped after being tortured and looted money and gold ornaments.
The tortured housewife was taken to the Galachipa Health Complex by speedboat that night. The doctor on duty transferred him to the 250-bed Patuakhali hospital on Saturday morning. He is currently in treatment there.
Meanwhile, a young man named Shakil, 20, was taken to the Charmontaj police investigation center for questioning on Saturday morning on suspicion of being involved in the incident.
Shakil is the son of Mojibar Sharif, a resident of Charmargaret. He is a tailor by profession.
The housewife’s husband said, “I went to the surroundings before Asr’s prayers.” When I return home, it is 9 pm or 9:15 pm. On the way, the mobile phone comes from home. After returning the call, the phone turns off.
