A housewife was reportedly gang-raped after being detained for three days at her home in Sadar upazila in Madaripur. The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three people involved in the incident.
The arrested rapists are: A. from the Panichhatra area of the city of Madaripur. Latif Bepari’s son, Faruk Hossain Bepari (48), A. from Mahisherchar village in Sadar. Liton Hawlader, 49, son of Mannan Hawlader, and Tayyab Ali Hawlader, 48, son of Balun Hawlader from the same village.
In this incident, an expedition team of vigilantes from the RAB-7 Madaripur camp raided the village of Kalagachhia in the Kendua Union of Madaripur Sadar Upazila and rescued the abducted housewife (28).
Friday night, RAB-6, CPC-3 Madaripur Camp Acting Commander Chief Deputy Superintendent of Police. Iftekharuzzaman said in a press release that on October 13, Liton Hawladar and Tayyab Ali Hawladar, led by rapist Farooq Hossain Bepari, abducted a housewife, a tenant from Julhas Chowkidar’s home in the Panichhatra area of the Madaripur city.
He then took the victim to a rented house in the Kalagachhia village of Sadar upazila. The three then raped the victim inside the home from October 13 to 18 against her will.
The victim informed RAB-6, Madaripur camp about the incident on Friday morning.
Then a special expedition team from RAB-6, Madaripur camp went to the scene and rescued the kidnapped victim from the rented house. Farooq was later arrested at the scene.
Later, on the basis of secret information, Liton and Tayyab were also arrested in the Panichhatra area of Madaripur city.
The victim and the arrested defendant have been turned over to the Madaripur Sadar Model Police Station. When the victim herself filed a complaint with the Madaripur Sadar Model Police Station, the police arrested the accused and sent them to court on Friday afternoon.
Later, Senior Judge Shahidul Islam ordered all three to be sent to jail.
