Dhaka: In the by-elections of the Dhaka-5 constituency, there has been a controversy over the voting of the deputy candidate Kazi Monirul Islam Manu. Although the ruling Awami League candidate claimed to have voted as a voter in this constituency, BNP candidate Salahuddin Ahmed denied this.
And Manu did not bring media staff to the center while voting.
Monirul Islam arrived at Jatrabari Ideal School and College Center shortly after 9 am on Saturday (October 18). Candidates often enter the polls with media personnel. Then he went to the secret room and exercised his right to vote.
However, Kazi Monirul Islam did not go to the room with the media staff that day. The Awami League candidate came out shortly after entering the room.
Later, when asked about voting at the center’s premises, Monirul Islam said: “I am a voter here, I have voted.”
On the other hand, BNP candidate Saladin says Manu’s claim is false. After visiting the same center, the BNP candidate said that he (Manu) could not vote in this seat. Because he is a voter from Gandaria in the Dhaka-4 constituency. Now if you claim to have voted here, it is not true.
Although he competes in the Dhaka-5 constituency, Saladin himself is not a voter in this district. However, he blamed the Electoral Commission for this. “I was a voter in this constituency,” he said. In the 2018 elections, I participate from the Dhaka-4 constituency. Then I register my vote in that seat. However, the Electoral Commission did not give me that opportunity even though I wanted to change this seat again.
