The police have recovered the hanging bodies of foreign lovers in Kalihati, Tangail. Their bodies were recovered Friday from the Birbasinda union village of Rajafair in upazila. They are Shahjahan (42) from the same village and Aleya Begum (39), Danej’s wife from the same village.

According to local sources, Aleya lived with her husband Danej. Shah Jahan used to visit Danej’s house frequently. At one point a love story developed between them. Aleya and Shahjahan fled the area a month and a half ago. Shahjahan and Aleya returned to the village last Wednesday after a long absence.

Amjad and Kashem from the village were to settle on Thursday. However, last night some young people from the village mistreated and slapped them. Police recovered their bodies hanging from the barn of Aleya’s husband, Danej, on Friday morning. Shahjahan has two children and Aleya has an 11-year-old son.

Aleyar’s father, Delwar Hossain, said: ‘My daughter is not supposed to commit suicide. If he had committed suicide, he would have done it sooner, he would not have returned home.
