The CID arrested Raihanul Islam, the younger brother of Shahinur Rahman, who was killed in a beheading incident in Kalaroa. He was shown in custody around 2.30pm on Friday.
Previously, the police detained him for questioning. Police could not say if anyone other than the family member was involved in the incident.
Shahinaur Rahman’s mother-in-law, Moyna Khatun, filed a case at the Kalaroa Police Station around 9 p.m. Thursday. However, no defendants were named in the case. The case was turned over to the CID on Friday morning.

The police have questioned four or five people who may have been involved in the killings. Surveillance in the area has also been increased. The police have launched a preliminary investigation into the suspects.

Four members of the same family were strangled to death Wednesday morning. The deceased were Shahajan Ali’s son fish merchant Md. Shahinur Rahman (39), his wife Sabina Khatun (33), his son Siam Hossain Mahi (11) and his daughter Taslim Sultana (10). The killers left the family’s five-month-old baby, Maria, unharmed.
