In Gazipur, a university student was called from her home and raped by some young men, including her classmates. Police arrested two drivers for being involved in the incident. Today Friday, said the Metropolitan Police Officer in Charge (OC) of Gazipur. Alamgir Bhuiyan has provided this information.
The detainees are Anand (22) from the Galganda area of Gauripur upazila of Mymensingh and Masud Rana (25) from the Jainabazar area of Sreepur upazila of Gazipur. Among them, Anand rents a sweet house in the West Chatar area of the Gazipur metropolis and Rana drives a car from a rented house in the poor neighborhood of Chala Khas, a member of the same area.
GMP Sadar Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Syed Rafiul Karim, citing the case, said that a man from Jamalpur Sadar Upazila lives with his family in the city of Gazipur. His daughter (18) is in class XI at the local university. Naeem (19) from the Junk Bazar area of Gazipur City Corporation studied in the same class. Naeem called his classmate in the Shimultali Battala area on his mobile phone and told him that he would meet him at 5 p.m. Thursday. From there, at night, he was picked up in a battery-powered autorickshaw and taken to the mobile tower adjacent to the gate of West Chatar School. Naeem’s two friends, Anand and Masud Rana, were present at the time. The student was forcibly taken inside a mobile tower to a building next to the main gate and threatened to kill her. The student was later raped by Naeem and her two friends. After the rape, Naeem drove the girl to the nearby car stand and left the scene.
The locals came forward when the raped student couldn’t walk and they sat there crying. Upon learning of the incident, the neighborhood councilor informed the girl’s family and the police. Upon receiving the news, the Sadar police station rescued the raped student in critical condition and admitted her to the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital.
Sadar Police Station OC Alamgir Bhuiyan said the victim’s mother had filed a case against three people on Friday alleging organized rape under the Prevention of Abuse of Women and Children Act. Police arrested Anand and Rana from the Mymensingh and Sreepur areas involved in the rape case. The court granted them a two-day pre-trial detention after being sent to court for a seven-day pre-trial detention for questioning.
The OC said Naeem, the main defendant in the case, has been on the run since the incident. Continue the operation to stop it.
