Three passengers in a private car were killed when a train bound for Khulna collided with a level crossing at Abhaynagar upazila in Jessore. Three more passengers were injured.

The accident took place at the level crossing in the Bhangaget area of ​​upazila around 5:15 pm on Friday.

Among the dead are the driver of a private car, a five-year-old boy and a passenger. The names of the dead were not immediately known.

Eyewitness and director of the Nawapara train station. Mohsin Reza said that a private car was crossing the Bhairab Bridge from the other side of the Bhairab River to the Jessore-Khulna highway. At that time, while crossing the train track in the Bhangagate area, when he fell in front of the Mahananda Express bound for Khulna, the private car twisted and fell 200 feet away.

Two of the six occupants of the private car, including the driver of the private car, died at the scene and a five-year-old boy died on the way to the Abhaynagar Upazila Health Complex.

The other three injured in the accident were taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital in critical condition. Upon receiving the news, Nawapara police and railway police and fire service personnel rushed to the scene and rescued the dead and injured. The train stopped running for about an hour after the accident.

Abhaynagar OC Police said. Tajul Islam told Jugantar that the identities of the victims have not yet been found. However, the victims are believed to be residents of the Narail district or the Rupganj area.
