Rape of a schoolgirl in Comilla: Life sentence of the accused 965885 | Voice of tomorrow

A court sentenced a man to life imprisonment for kidnapping and raping a schoolgirl in Barura, Comilla in 2015. Judge of the Court 2 of Abuse of Women and Minors of Comilla District Judge on Thursday at noon. Jahidul Kabir gave this order. However, Rashedul Islam Rajib, the only one convicted in the case, is on the run.

Said the PP of the Comilla Court of Abuse of Women and Children-2. Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury said the married schoolgirl was abducted from her father’s home in Harishpur of Baruda upazila de Comilla on November 14, 2015 and taken to Dhaka. The older brother of the victim filed a case against Rashedul Islam Rajib, son of Abdur Rahim from Kakairatla village in the same upazila on 18 November.

Police rescued the victim on the basis of the case. After lengthy investigation and testimony, a judge at the Women and Child Abuse Court-2 on Thursday (October 15) sentenced him to 15 years in prison for kidnapping under section 7 and life in prison for rape under section 1 of 9. The court sentenced the accused to three years’ imprisonment for failing to pay a fine of Tk 1.5 lakh, in addition to the imprisonment in two sections.
