However, the councilor said no such thing was seen on CCTV footage from the area where the beating was reported.

After the incident, SI Akbar Hossain Bhuiyan, police officers Harunur Rashid, Touhid Mia and Titu Chandra Das were suspended on Monday. Additionally, Deputy Assistant Inspector (ASI) Ashek Elahi, ASI Qutb Ali and Agent Sajib Hossain were also removed.

Raihan’s death at the police station: Investigation Committee

Raihan Uddin Ahmed was tortured to death by the Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) at the Bandar Bazar Police Post under the Kotwali Police Station for three hours, 10 minutes and 40 seconds. CCTV footage, the police and eyewitnesses and observation of the surrounding situation initially showed that Raihan was injured at the Bandar Bazar police post.
