Pabna: Kabir bin Anwar, chief secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources, said the prime minister had asked the UN to take legal action against him for insulting him. The case has been shelved, the fired municipal mayor Abdul Baten will submit to the law.

He made the remarks at a press conference on Thursday (October 15) evening after investigating the UN assault on Bera Upazila Parishad.

Kabir bin Anwar said: “I would like to express my condolences on behalf of the Administrative Services Association to the government officials who are in a panic over the misconduct of the people’s representatives.” Government officials are united and express their opposition to misconduct, we will deal with these incidents legally.

Earlier, Kabir bin Anwar heard details of the incident from eyewitnesses to the UN raid. Information and evidence of the incident was also provided at that time.

Present on the occasion were Pabna Deputy Commissioner Kabir Mahmud, Police Superintendent Sheikh Rafiqul Islam, Bera UNO Asif Anam Siddiqui.

Earlier, during a monthly meeting in the Upazila Parishad conference room on Monday, Mayor Abdul Baten was accused of insulting and abusing the UN Asif Anam Siddiqui. The local government department suspended him from the position of mayor on Tuesday. The UN, which had filed a lawsuit against the fired mayor at the Bera police station on Wednesday night, went into hiding.
