A group of leaders from the Council for the Protection of Student Rights, an organization formed in the wake of the movement against reform of government service fees in Bangladesh, have announced themselves as the leaders of the organization.

At the same time, they have declared former Daksh vice chairman Nurul Haque and one of the joint convenors of the council, Muhammad Rashed Khan, undesirable.

At a press conference in Dhaka on Thursday, they announced a central committee of the organization, with APM Sohail, the joint coordinator of the Council for the Protection of Student Rights, as the convener.

APM Sohail told BBC Bangla that they did not divide the organization, but instead took action against the criminals to protect the organization from politicization.

Nurul Haque Nur, who became the sole leader of the Student Rights Protection Council after the quota reform movement and later became the vice president of Daksh, says the Council for the Protection of Student Rights Students was formed through the quota reform movement and included many from various organizations, including the Chhatra League and Chhatra Dal.

“Recently, when we started the process of forming political parties, we have organized organizations like the Student Rights Council, Youth Rights Council. And those who have announced new committees on behalf of the Council for the Protection of Student Rights are mostly affiliated with different political parties. I got them involved during the quota reform movement. Now the government is using them to humiliate us. Sometimes the cases are brought under the patronage of the government or sometimes they make us unwanted, ” he told BBC Bangla.

Nur said they will soon form a citizen platform, the Bangladesh People’s Rights Council, and knowing this, the government is trying to suppress them in various ways.

“Because now an undemocratic government is taking place in Bangladesh and the political parties cannot speak. Overcoming obstacles there, we have achieved one successful student movement after another. For these reasons, the government is now using some people who have participated in the quota reform movement. Today they held a press conference against us, ”he said.

However, APM Sohail, whose name was announced today as the central coordinator of the Council for the Protection of Student Rights, has denied the allegations of collusion with the government.

He tells BBC Bangla that these labels were given to him (Nur-Rashed) every time they said something about injustice in the organization.

Announcing the biased committee at the press conference, he said in a written statement: “The process of politicizing Nur’s sole decision begins, which is a kind of autocratic decision, in addition to creating extreme conflict within the organization.”

It said: ‘Due to the arrogance, arrogance and stubborn decision of some leaders, the organization formed in exchange for our thousands of sacrifices runs towards organizational decline. As a result of this, various scandals are being revealed through various media which is very embarrassing and sad for us.

By the way, Nurul Haque Nur was elected vice president after defeating the ruling party’s Chhatra League candidate in the Dhaka University Student Parliament elections and has been harshly criticizing the government ever since.

Recently, a Dhaka University student brought a case against him and some other leaders of the Student Rights Protection Council for violation.

Later, the student filed a case against him under the Digital Security Act.

Nur later told the BBC: ‘You are doing these things to ruin our policy under the patronage of the government, to humiliate us. The lawsuits you are filing, I believe, have no legal basis. That is why I have decided not to deal with the cases legally.

He called the cases “political” and said he would deal with them politically.

Again, the plaintiff in the case brought against Nur and a few others for rape is still continuing his program on campus.

Meanwhile, the leaders of a section of the organization announced a new committee that excludes him and two others so that APM Sohail becomes the convener.
