A madrasa student named Tanzina Akhter (14) was killed by criminals who were standing near her home after getting up to offer Fajr prayers at Araihazar in Narayanganj.
Police recovered his body from a hole near his home in the Ramchandradi area of Gopaldi municipality in Araihazar upazila on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Aftab Uddin alias Akhter Hossain, a potter from the Ramchandradi area of Tanjina Akter upazila. She is a student at the local Qawmi Madrasa.
Akhtar Hossain, the father of the deceased, said: “We all woke up to perform the Fajr prayers on Thursday.” At the same time, Tanzina Akhtar also got up to pray. After the prayers, the girl could not be found and could not be found in the vicinity. In the morning I saw Tanzina’s body in a hole next to the house. Azhar Uddin, inspector in charge of the Gopaldi Research Center of the Araihazar Police Station, quoted the family as saying that Tanzina Akhter studied at a madrasa. The body of the deceased was recovered at noon and sent to the Narayanganj General Hospital morgue.
He added that Tanzina was initially thought to have been murdered after being raped.
