Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has admitted that he has suffered heavy losses in the war with Azerbaijan over the Nagorno-Karabakh region. He acknowledged that many Armenian soldiers had died in the fighting.
“I pay my respects to all of our victims, the martyrs, their families, their guardians, especially the mothers of the martyrs,” Pashinyan said in a televised address on Wednesday. I consider your loss to be a personal loss to me and my family.
He added that despite the loss of manpower and equipment, the Armenian army was still in control and had inflicted heavy casualties on opposition manpower and equipment.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephone conversation on Wednesday after the clash between the two countries.
According to the Kremlin, the two sides discussed ways to peacefully resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict through joint efforts to end the violence.
