The Bangladesh Student Rights Council saw the face of disintegration. A new convening committee of 22 members from the same organization was announced under the leadership of APM Sohail, the joint convenor expelled from the organization. They have renamed the organization the General Council for the Protection of Student Rights of Bangladesh. In the newly announced committee, Rashed Khan, acting coordinator of the Student Rights Council and Nurul Haque Nur, joint coordinator, were declared unwanted.

They made the announcement at a press conference at the National Press Club on Thursday (October 15) at noon. A 22-member partial convening committee was announced at the press conference. APM Sohail was appointed as convener and Ismail Samrat as member secretary.

Based on the main aims and objectives of the Student Rights Council, politics dirty with people’s emotions and beliefs, financial opacity, arbitrariness, management of anti-democratic organizations, devaluation of false accusations against apostates and fellow workers. They hold press conferences aimed at the organizational reform.

Speakers at the press conference protested the Bangladesh Student Rights Council’s infighting, ethical behavior, grassroots devaluation, expulsion of renegades and old leaders, women’s scandal, DU union domination, the formation of political parties. In addition, the name of the organization briefly objected and highlighted the involvement of the Student Rights Council leaders in the DU student rape incident.

Speakers at the press conference said the organization was formed to move away from the purpose for which it was established.

It is worth mentioning that APM Sohail was expelled from the Bangladesh Student Rights Council on May 4 this year for violating organizational discipline.
