The malefactors have slaughtered four members of the same family in Kalaroa, Satkhira. The incident took place in the early hours of Thursday (October 15) in the village of Khalsi in the union of the Upazila of Helatla.
The deceased were identified as Shahinur Rahman, 40, the son of Shahajan Ali from Khalsi village, his wife Sabina Khatun, 30, their son Siam Hossain Mahi, 9, and their daughter Tasnim, 7. However, Shahinur’s four-month-old is unharmed.
According to family sources of the victims, seven people lived in the house, including five members of the mother’s family and the older brother. My mother was yesterday in the house of a relative. Shahinur Rahman’s younger brother, Raihanul Islam, was in the next room. In the morning, Raihanul heard the children humming from the next room. He went to the house and saw the closed door from outside. He opened the door and saw the bloody body of his brother-in-law lying there. Soon after, the children also died. However, four-month-old Shahinur’s daughter Maria is unharmed.
Raihanul said there was a dispute between them and some people over the land. But it is not clear who caused the incident.
The Deputy Inspector (SI) of the Kalaroa Mofizul Police Station confirmed the matter from the scene. He said that four people, including Shahinur Rahman, the home’s owner, were strangled to death in his home. Between them, Shahinur’s legs were obstructed and the door to her room was open.
SI Mofizul added that the killers are believed to have entered the home through a door in the attic. Police have begun work to unravel the mystery of the incident.
