Raihan was tortured for an hour by SI AkbarRaihan and his injured hand.

Sylhet: Raihan was very scared by the fight. That’s why her friends used to call her Ladies.

That fear became Raihan’s life tomorrow. He was tortured to death for about an hour.

He was taken to the Bandarbazar police post in the early hours of Sunday (11 October) and taken to the outpost in charge of Akbar Hossain Bhuiyan’s room. There they beat him with sticks.

Agents Harun and Titu beat Raihan Uddin (30) out of enthusiasm for Akbar. An eyewitness from the outpost confirmed this shocking information to banglanews.

The deputy inspector claimed that a robbery occurred in the Kastghar area on Sunday morning. A van driver had 10,000 rupees and his mobile phone stolen. The thief’s house is in Moksudpur of the Gopalganj district. According to him, he grabbed Raihan from Sulai Lal’s house in the log house and took him to the police post. He also reported on the capture of Raihan via a wireless set.

The beating started when Raihan was finally taken to SI Akbar’s room inside the outpost. The informant forbade the policeman to kill Raihan and told SI Akbar, “Sir, he will die.” But when he was beaten without listening to her, he left the outpost and went to the Zindabazar point to look for cigarettes. Police officers Harun and Titu from the Sierra-Four group, who were on night duty, beat him, but Touhid got stuck using his mobile phone. The call was made to Raihan’s home around 4:37 am on his mobile phone. Kotwali Police Station OC (Investigation) Soumen Mitra called him and asked him to come to the outpost and instructed him to take the late Raihan to Osmani Medical College Hospital.

The scene where Raihan was taken to the Bandarbazar police post in normal and healthy condition and taken to the hospital after being tortured was captured on CC footage from the super police office. There he was transferred to the emergency department after undergoing X-rays on the second floor of the hospital. When Raihan’s condition worsened, the doctor on duty pronounced him dead around 6 a.m., 20 minutes after he was taken to the ICU.

The police officer who brought Raihan to the hospital informed SI Akbar about the matter by phone. Later, SI Akbar went to the hospital with Agent Harun. After returning to the hospital outpost, he left around 8 a.m. after erasing the images from the CCTV camera. And Akbar disappeared from the outpost. Since then, his mobile phone has also been turned off.

The witness said that SI Akbar used inhuman torture with a bamboo stick. Due to his reckless torture, the living man’s fingernails were pulled out and the bones in his hands and feet were broken. He informed OC Soumen about Raihan’s inhumane torture. He also made the same statement to the Police Commissioner.

The witness said: “Four people have been suspended and three withdrawn, but we are all in the line of the police.” But IF Akbar isn’t there, he’s been missing since Sunday morning. They have kept us under strict surveillance at the police line.

Raihan Uddin was assassinated on Sunday (October 11). Raihan died in a massive beating in a wooded area of the city accused of snatching police claims. But the victim’s family and relatives allege that Raihan was killed by the police at the outpost. After his death, signs of injuries were found at various locations on Raihan’s body. His nails were also pulled out. After the incident, the victim’s wife filed a murder case at the Kotwali Police Station alleging that Raihan was tortured to death in police custody.

On Monday (October 12), four people, including SI Akbar, in charge of the outpost, were suspended and three others were removed on the recommendation of a three-member police investigation committee on the allegations.

Other suspended police officers include Bandarbazar Outpost Officers Harunur Rashid, Touhid Mia and Titu Chandra Das. The retired police personnel are ASI Ashek Elahi, ASI Qutb Ali and Constable Sajib Hossain.
