After the death of Raihan Uddin at the Sylhet Metropolitan Police outpost in Bandarbazar, this time the Alishan Bari of the dismissed Deputy Inspector (SI) Akbar Hossain from the outpost is being discussed.
Images of Akbar’s luxurious house have already spread on social media. Everyone is wondering how he built that house working in a small position like SI.
The home of the police officer Akbar is in the Bagair village of Ashuganj upazila in Brahmanbaria. Father Zafar Ali Bhuiyan was a teacher at a local school. Jafar was charged in a case brought against him for raping a student. Then he was fired from school. After being involved in the case, Zafar Ali lost all his resources.
Akbar is known to have passed Durgapur High School in Ashuganj Upazila in 2003 and Firoz Mia Degree College in 2005.
He accepted a job as a police officer in 2006. After a few years of service, he applied for the position of Deputy Inspector (SI). Akbar and his family’s fate began to change after he passed the exam and was appointed to the SI position.
Akbar is the second of five siblings. After getting a job in the police, the locals said they have built great wealth, including houses and land in their village. The old house has been demolished and a luxurious house has been built.
The works on the first floor of the house are already finished. Now the work of making a modern door continues. All property lost by his father due to his work in the police has been returned to Akbar.
Akbar is now at the center of discussions in his own village about the death of Raihan Uddin in police torture at the Sylhet Metropolitan Police outpost in Bandarbazar.
The discussion about how Alishan has become the owner of so many properties, including his house, is now on everyone’s lips in the village. Many police officers have demanded an investigation into the origin of Akbar and his family’s great wealth.
According to some residents of Bagair village, Akbar became the owner of a large amount of wealth by earning money illegally after landing a job in the police. What he has done is very disgusting and a shame to the people of Ashuganj. They demanded exemplary punishment for Akbar after properly investigating the Bandarbazar outpost to rid Ashuganj of its stigma.
Akbar police officer’s younger brother, Arif Bhuiyan, said: “We believe that my brother cannot do such a thing.” We also want a proper investigation of the incident. Believe me, brother can’t kill anyone for money
Ashuganj Upazila Parishad President Hanif Munshi said: “What Akbar has done is a disgrace to all of Ashuganj.” We demand exemplary punishment if Akbar is found guilty after a proper investigation of the incident.
On October 11, a young man named Raihan Uddin died in police custody at the Bandarbazar police post. He is the son of the late Habibur Rahman from the Akhalia Neharipara area of the city of Sylhet.
Raihan Uddin’s family allege that Raihan was captured and tortured to death for money. Akbar, in charge of the Bandarbazar outpost, was suspended in the incident. Akbar has been on the run ever since.
