All types of vehicles, except motorcycles, trucks and vans, will be able to move in the by-election of the Dhaka-5 constituency. This information has been reported in a notification from the Electoral Commission. The by-elections for the Dhaka-5 constituency will be held next Saturday (October 18).
According to the notification, motorcycle traffic will be closed from 12 noon tomorrow (October 15) until 12 noon on October 17. Additionally, trucks and vans will be closed from 12 noon on October 16 to 12 noon on October 17. The EC has authorized the concerned Deputy Commissioner / other interested authorities to impose a ban on these vehicles.
The notification further stated that the ban can be relaxed in the case of rival candidates / their electoral agents, domestic / foreign observers, subject to the permission of the Return Officer. In addition, local / foreign journalists who participate in the collection of electoral news, electoral officials, members of the forces of order, legal observers of elections and vehicles used for urgent work such as ambulances, fire brigade, electricity, gas, post office, telecommunications, etc. The ban will not apply. Authorities will be able to relax the ban on national highways, ports and other emergency supplies.
