It can be mentioned that Mehbooba was arrested on August 4, 2019, the day before the repeal of Section 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. He is the first political leader in the state to be arrested under the Public Safety Act (PSA). At first he was kept in a boarding house in Chashme Shahi. They later took him to another boarding house on MA Link Road. He was eventually placed under house arrest in his own home. His daughter Iltiza Mufti went to the Supreme Court against Mehbooba’s arrest. The last hearing in the case was held on September 29.
