Azerbaijan frees Hadrat (video)

After the truce, the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan flares up again. Baku said that a new area had been liberated amid accusations of counterattacks.

Azerbaijan has liberated the city of Hadrat from Armenian occupation, the country’s media reported on Tuesday, citing the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry. Then a two-minute, twenty-two second video of the occupied area was posted.

Early Monday, the Azerbaijani army liberated the Sulemani village in the Jabrail district of Armenia.

Both sides agreed to a temporary ceasefire on humanitarian grounds. During the ceasefire, the two countries agreed to exchange POWs and other prisoners and hand over their bodies.

The ceasefire would take effect on Saturday. But just minutes after the ceasefire, Armenia and Azerbaijan accused each other of violating the ceasefire.

The Karabakh region is internationally recognized as a territory of Azerbaijan. However, the region has been controlled by ethnic Armenians since the 1990s. In that decade, more than 30,000 people died in wars with Armenia and Azerbaijan.
