Parbatipur Railway Police arrested a 19-year-old man named Gopal Krishna Mahanta Bandhan accused of spreading obscene images on social media (Facebook) after raping a university student in Parbatipur, Dinajpur.
The arrested Gopal Krishna Mahanta Badhan is the son of Biswajit Kumar Mahanta from the Sahebpara area of the Parbatipur Railway Colony and a fourth-semester student at a private polytechnic school.
Parbatipur Railroad Police Station OC Emdadul Haque said Gopal Krishna Mahanta Bandhan had a love affair with a class XI student from the same area by hiding his identity on Facebook. At one point, Bandhan raped the college student on Friday and took pornographic photos on her mobile phone. Later, when the girl found out about her religious identity and tried to break the relationship, Gopal Krishna Mahanta spread pornographic images on her mobile phone through social media.
He said the university student’s mother filed a case at the Parbatipur train police station on Monday night. After presenting the case, the railway police arrested Gopal Krishna Mahanta in his own home on Monday night.
OC Emdadul Haque said the arrested Gopal Krishna Mahanta was turned over to court on Tuesday. An application has been made to the court to record the declaration of the university student.
