Faridpur-based Speaker of the Parliament of Charbhadrasan Upazila Parishad, Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury (Nixon), will be prosecuted for threatening the deputy commissioner (DC) and abusing election officials in the run-up to the by-elections, said the chief commissioner of elections. (CEC) KM Nurul Huda.

The CEC said this at noon on Tuesday (October 13) in the elections building.

In response to a question, the CEC said: ‘We know there are complaints. We knew the complaint immediately. I have discussed it with the commissioners. I have decided what to do. What to do today or tomorrow, whatever is decided, will go away. Of course, the behavior of the deputies during the elections is not desirable. You violated the code of conduct. The provisions of the law shall apply to the provisions of the law. This is all I can say. ‘

There is a law to bring a case against you. Will you sue? Since it did so within 48 hours of the election.

In response, Nurul Huda said: ‘Now we see, if there is a provision to present a case, I will present it. We haven’t decided yet.

At the time, Commissioner Rafiqul Islam said: “We are ready to do everything that is in the law, everything that is possible.”

Elections are held during the period of the coronation. Even today, a candidate came forward. They do not follow the code of hygiene and conduct. When asked if he had anything to do in the area, the CEC said: “I promised to hold the elections in accordance with the health rules.” These are matters of your own personal conscience. Here we request it. But they do not comply. Why only they, wherever I go in Bangladesh, I see the issue of hygiene compliance being neglected. We can ask them again and again, I hope they obey. At this stage, they have nothing to do but request.
