The police arrested a software engineer named Munna Khan (28) accused of raping his sister-in-law in Sherpur. The accused is the son of Abdus Samad Khan from Shapmari village in Munna Sadar upazila.
According to the police and local sources, Munna Khan’s father-in-law’s home is in Faridpur. On October 7, his wife gave birth to Cesar. Munna asked her married sister-in-law (19) to come to Sherpur to care for her sister. Shalika came and stayed at Dulabhai’s house in the Shapmari village of the Bhatsala union of Sadar upazila. After staying there for two days, if he wanted to move to Faridpur, Munna took him home to Rajballavpur in Sherpur city on Sunday morning saying she would drop him off in Dhaka.
The victim alleged that she had been raped several times since this morning. Munna also recorded a video of the rape. At the time, he threatened to post the video on the internet if anyone reported the incident. Helpless, Shalika called 999 that night and informed the police about the incident. Upon receiving the news, the Sadar Police Station police rescued the victim from his home in Rajballavpur and arrested the rapist Munna.
Sherpur Sadar OC Police Station (investigation) Monirul Alam Bhuiyan confirmed the incident. He said: ‘The victim has filed a case as a plaintiff in this incident. He has been sent to the district hospital for a medical examination. The rapist Munna has been arrested and sent to jail through the court.
