The police arrested a van driver named Mamun (26) for recording a video after gang raping an NGO worker (25) in Fakirhat upazila of Bagerhat.
Mamun was arrested on Sunday (October 11) at noon in a raid in the Zaria Mite Pumpkin area of Fakirhat. At that time, the police confiscated a mobile phone that contained a video of Mamun.
Early in the morning, the woman filed a case against the four at the police station alleging gang rape and video recording. The defendants in the case are bricklayer Firoz (28), day laborer Musa (28), van driver Raju (29) and Mamun (28) from the Zaria Mite Kumra area.
Bagerhat (SP) Police Superintendent Pankaj Chandra Roy said: “We have arrested the driver of the truck Mamun on the basis of the case of the NGO worker.” I have seized a mobile phone with the relevant video of Mamun. The police continue their operation to arrest the other defendants.
The police superintendent also said that a student lives next to the room of the house where the woman lived. The four defendants entered the woman’s home on Saturday night (October 10).
He tried to blackmail the woman into having an immoral relationship with the student. At one point, the woman was raped. The entire incident is under investigation. Everyone involved in the incident will be arrested.
