Revealing the gist of its “investigation committee” report to journalists on Sunday, the student council claimed that “false and unsubstantiated” allegations of rape had been made against the accused.
Meanwhile, a Dhaka University student who allegedly raped Hasan rejected the investigation, telling bdnews24.com: “I have presented evidence of rape to the police. Why testify to them? Your report is unfounded.”
Hasan, an Islamic Studies student at Dhaka University, recently filed a rape complaint against Hasan, a former student in his department.
On September 21 and 23, he filed two cases at the Lalbagh and Kotwali police stations in the capital alleging rape, kidnapping and murder of characters through social media.
In addition to Hasan, the student also accused Nazmul Hasan Sohag, the joint coordinator of the council, of rape. Former Dakshur Vice Chairman Nurul Haque Nur and three other council leaders were accused of assisting in this.
Initially, the allegations were conspiratorial, but after the case, the organization formed an investigative committee on September 23, removing Hasan from the position of convener of the Student Rights Council.
Bin Yamin Mollah, chairman of the Dhaka University branch of the Student Rights Council, Tareq Rahman and Rafia Sultana, two joint coordinators of the organization’s central council, were included in the investigation committee.
The committee released its investigative report on Wednesday, 16 days after it was asked to present details of the incident, including recommendations, to the organization’s executive council within 48 hours.
Hassan Al Mamun
According to the report, the author claimed to be an activist for the Student Rights Council, but never participated in any organizational activities of the Student Rights Council.
Hasan affirmed before the investigation committee that there was no love relationship between them even though they had an identity.
The committee report said: “They know each other as students from the same department. The investigation committee did not find any evidence of sexual harassment. Even the complainant could not provide any evidence to the investigation committee in this regard. “
The report claimed that the student had never met in person with Nurul Haque Nur, the joint coordinator of the council.
Saiful Islam, joint coordinator of the Student Rights Council, Nazmul Huda, vice president of the DU branch, and Abdullah Hill, among others, said that the investigation committee did not find any evidence against the plaintiff.
When asked about the delay in submitting the investigation report, committee member and joint council coordinator Tareq Rahman told bdnews24.com: As a result, the investigation process could not be completed at that time.
“Later we were able to communicate with both the plaintiff and the defendant. I have spoken with the plaintiff and the plaintiff’s family about the allegations in the case statement. I have also spoken with the accused. Our sister from Dhaka University could not give us the proper documents of the accusations made in Ezhar. As much as possible verbally. In general, the statements and documents of the plaintiffs and defendants did not match the evidence in the allegations. “
Rape: Mamun loses leadership of the Student Rights Council
The DU student requested the intervention of the Prime Minister for the trial
Muhammad Rashed Khan, acting coordinator of the council, told bdnews24.com: “The investigation committee has not found any evidence of a physical relationship with Hassan al-Mamun. The accusations against others have not been substantiated.”
When asked about the organization’s decision on Hassan al-Mamun, he said: “The decision to release him from the organization will remain in effect until the accusation is resolved in court.”
Meanwhile, the student has been on a hunger strike at the foot of the Raju sculpture at Dhaka University for the past four days demanding the arrest and trial of the accused.
He was taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital emergency department at around 9:15 pm on Saturday after he was physically weakened in a continuous hunger strike since 8 pm on Thursday.
After receiving treatment there, he returned around 2 am and took up position on the Raju sculpture again. At the time, his classmates, including several female activists from the Chhatra League, were by his side.
He said the program would continue there until the defendants are arrested.
Tilottama Sikder, a former Daksh member and a member of the Dhaka University Senate, told bdnews24.com: “The girl has been mentally devastated since last night. Separated from family for the past four days.
“Even after going on a hunger strike, the defendants are not being arrested. However, the girl is also determined to continue with the program until the defendants are arrested.”
