Israel will oppose the sale of US F-35 fighter jets to Qatar, Israeli Intelligence Minister Eli Cohen said.
On Sunday, he said that to maintain Israel’s military dominance in the region, care must be taken in selling these planes.
Reuters reports that the country’s intelligence chief Eli Cohen made the comments when asked about Qatar’s offer to buy Washington’s F-35 stealth jets on Israeli military radio.
When asked if Israel would object to the sale or purchase of warplanes, Cohen said Israel would object. Maintaining our security and military dominance in the region is the most important thing to us. Because our region has not yet become as neutral as Switzerland.
Qatar has expressed interest in purchasing the plane after the United States agreed to supply F-35s to the UAE under a US-backed Abraham Agreement standardization agreement.
