‘Sir, I can’t walk anymore,’ Shefali Begum asked as she lay in the hospital bed. However, the doctor does not know if he will ever be able to walk again. Shefali Begum, a middle-aged woman abandoned by her husband, was tortured by terrorists in the medieval manner. The criminals broke the bones in both of Shefali Begum’s legs and cut his veins.

The incident took place in the village of Khalilpur at the Nilganj junction of Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali. On Friday night (October 10), 10 to 12 terrorists tortured him for hours, stabbing him in the leg with a ram and hitting him in the back with a ram.

Locals said that on Friday night, people from the area ran to the shout of Shefali Begum and saw that the terrorists had attacked and cut the broken part of his leg. After rescuing her and three members of her family, they took her to Kalapara hospital. The doctor on duty sent Shefali Begum to the Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

It is known that Shefali Begum used to work as a brick breaker in Dhaka. Due to Corona’s situation, he returned home after a long decade and a half and built a house in his manor house. But the opposition people expressed their inability to give way to the movement. With this, it was decided to give a four foot wide path at the refereeing meeting. The locals believe that the opponents did not accept this decision and caused a barbarous incident that evicted the family from the area forever.

Shefali Begum’s son, Alamin (35), wept and said: “When my wife and I went to save my mother, the terrorists beat us severely and seriously injured us.” We could not save my mother from them, her condition is now alarming due to abnormal bleeding. Family members and local terrorists, including Mubarak Fakir, Kashem Fakir, Babul Fakir, Nasir Fakir, and Miraj, tortured my mother for 10 to 12 hours over a dispute over the boundaries of the house.

Asked about the matter to the people of the opposition, a person, who did not want to be named, said: I have done such work that you can stay at home, there will be no more room for movement.

Kalapara Hospital doctor on call. Mahmudur Rahman said: Shefali’s condition is very critical. The bones in his legs were broken and crushed in several places. There have been stab wounds in many places.

The Officer-in-Charge (CO) of the Kalapara Police Station, Khandaker Mostafizur Rahman, said that police had been dispatched to the scene. So far no one has been able to submit the perfect solution, which is not strange. Legal action will be taken if a complaint is received.
