The Chandpur District Election Commission and Return Officer Mohammad Tofail Hossain announced the results of 52 centers in 15 districts of the municipality around 9pm on Saturday (October 10).
He told banglanews, Awami League candidate Md. Zillur Rahman got 34,625 votes for the ship symbol. BNP mayoral candidate Akhter Hossain Majhi obtained 3,613 votes with the symbol of the rice sheaf and mayoral candidate Mamunur Rashid Belal obtained 1,233 votes with the handicraft symbol nominated by Islami Andolan Bangladesh. The total casting was 31,212 votes.
It is worth mentioning that in the municipal elections there were three candidates for mayor, 50 candidates for councilors and 14 women candidates for councilors in the reserved districts. All councilors supported by the Awami League have won. The number of male voters in the elections is 56,144. 57 thousand 343 women voters. The total number of voters is one lakh 17 thousand 46 people.
