Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has asked everyone to be vigilant so that no selfish group can fish in the muddy waters.
He said this at an extended meeting of the Gazipur District Awami League on Saturday.
Obaidul Quader joined the expanded meeting via videoconference from his official residence.
Obaidul Quader said that Sheikh Hasina’s government is not only against rape and violence against women, but also against any crime. Those implicated in each case have been arrested and brought to justice.
He said that the cleaning campaign that the government is carrying out to stop irregularities in the health sector, based on the anti-casino campaign, is being carried out on its own initiative and not in response to demands from anyone.
Obaidul Quader said that BNP wants the fall of the government to take the movement to a different sector. The BNP is trying to make the peaceful movement violent, the government is aware of this. Work is also underway to identify those who are conspirators and rumor mongers.
He said the government would crack down on any attempt to create instability and conspiracy on behalf of the movement in the public interest.
The secretary general of the Awami League said that no level of terrorists, rapists and drug addicts can be indulged at the party.
