According to the Department of Meteorology, the wind speed during the cyclone will be 75 kilometers per hour. There is the possibility of heavy rains in different places due to the impact of the cyclone. In Andhra Pradesh, a red signal may be issued due to the cyclone.
This depression in the Andaman Sea is now located in the east-central Bay of Bengal. It will move north-northwest to save energy, the meteorological bureau said.
Although the storm did not directly affect West Bengal, heavy rains are expected in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra on Sunday and Monday, according to a statement.
Heavy rains are forecast on the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. During these two days, part of the Bay of Bengal will be agitated by the Andaman Sea. That is why fishermen off the coasts of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Andaman have been prohibited from fishing at sea during this period.
Meanwhile, the sky in Calcutta, the capital of West Bengal, will be partly cloudy on Saturday. There is a chance of rain with a couple of thunderstorms. However, heavy rains are not expected in the state in the next 48 hours.
