The secretary general of the Awami League said: ‘Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina runs the government with the confidence of the people. The roots of the Awami League are deeply rooted in the soil of this country. The Awami League does not give criminals a haven to stay in power. Awami League has survived in people’s love, it will survive.
Regarding the accusation by BNP leaders that the government is sheltering criminals, Obaidul Quader said that the government is not only sheltering criminals, but has taken the initiative to amend the law by maintaining the provision of the maximum punishment to make the punishment more severe. According to the Prime Minister’s directive, a proposal to amend the law will be raised in cabinet.
He said the government will take action as soon as any crime is organized and subjects the accused to the law. Before BNP took to the field, the government launched an offensive against criminals. Party identity cannot exempt criminals from punishment.
The secretary general of the Awami League said the government would not hand the issue over to anyone.
Obaidul Quader said that BNP is trying to save hateful rapists and criminals by announcing the fall of the government while seeking justice for the rape.
He said that all BNP rapists and criminals are a government party. However, today the newspaper has published a nasty accusation of broadcasting the video of the rape of the former joint convener of the student organization BNP in Kapasia, Gazipur. What can Mr. Mirza Fakhrul say now that the government is arbitrarily arresting the leaders and activists of his party?
