The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2020 for its efforts to combat hunger.

The Nobel Prize is worth one million Swedish crowns (about US $ 11 million).

A spokesman for the World Food Program said it was a “memorable moment.”

The World Food Program helps some 98 million people in six countries each year.

This year, 211 individuals and 108 organizations were nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. However, according to the rules of the Nobel Foundation, the list of nominations is not allowed to be published within 50 years.
