The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2020 for its efforts to combat hunger.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced on Friday (October 9) the winner of this year’s Nobel Peace Prize from the Norwegian capital, Oslo.

The Nobel Committee says that the UN World Food Program has played a key role in preventing the use of hunger as a weapon of war and conflict.
The Nobel Prize is worth one million Swedish crowns (about US $ 11 million).

The World Food Program helps some 98 million people in six countries each year.
This year, 211 individuals and 108 organizations were nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. However, according to the rules of the Nobel Foundation, the list of nominations is not allowed to be published within 50 years.
