The High Court has ordered the four children arrested in a rape case in Barisal’s Bakerganj to be taken to their parents in an air-conditioned minibus tonight. The court asked the Jessore (DC) Deputy Commissioner to take steps to deliver the children from the Jessore Child Development Center to their parents before dark.
At the same time, the High Court has summoned the Barisal superior judicial magistrate in question. He has been asked to appear in person next Sunday (October 11). A virtual High Court court of Judge Md Mojibur Mia and Judge Mohi Uddin Shamim approved the order on Thursday (October 8) evening in view of media reports.
Meanwhile, the director of Barisal Medical College Hospital was instructed to submit a medical report on the child rape before October 11. On Thursday, October 8, the High Court ordered the Supreme Court Special Officer Mohammad Saifur Rahman to inform the children by contacting their parents before midnight.
Later, Supreme Court Special Officer Mohammad Saifur Rahman said that all instructions from the High Court had been transmitted by telephone to the Barisal Juvenile Court judge, the Deputy Commissioner, the director of the Barisal Medical College hospital authority, the Chief Judge, to the concerned senior judicial magistrate, OC Bakerganj.
Previously, the police arrested four minors in a rape case in Bakerganj, Barisal. Later, the court ordered them to be sent to the Jessore Youth Development Center. However, the family members claimed that the children had been incriminated due to previous hostilities.
On 8 October, her father filed a case with Bakerganj Police Station under the Prevention of Abuse of Women and Children Act for allegedly raping a six-year-old boy. The case alleges that the defendants in the case are the boy’s playmates. In the case, it was mentioned that one of the defendants raped her while she was playing in the garden on the afternoon of October 4.
