In the new 2022 curriculum, discussions are underway to reduce work hours to two days a week for primary and secondary schools and upper secondary universities. The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) has submitted a preliminary discussion on the matter to the Minister-Secretary.
However, no recommendation or decision has been made in this regard, according to the NCTB and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.
The top secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education told the media. Akram-al-Hussein.
He said that a meeting was held with the Ministry of Education last Tuesday (October 8). At that meeting, the Ministry of Education and we (Ministry of Primary and Mass Education) agreed on the NCTB (National Curriculum and Textbook Board) proposal on weekly holidays on Fridays and Saturdays. NCTB is working on the issue.
NCTB President Narayan Chandra said: “We have submitted a draft presentation to the Minister-Secretary on how many hours the curriculum will last in a year.” It is not an offer, it is nothing. We have said that if there are classes available for so many days in a year, if there are classes for so many hours or if there are 5 days open in a week, if there are two days off, then what will happen. I have shown a reflection of this in the curriculum. It will stop or not will be a preface.
According to relevant sources, holidays are two days a week, Friday and Saturday. But the holiday at the academy is only on Friday. The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) has proposed extending this holiday.
The proposal says that even if the license is extended, there will be no detriment to students’ educational activities. The NCTB has proposed to implement the decision of these two weekly holidays starting in 2022. However, the decision of this holiday can be implemented at any time if the two ministries so desire.
