Two Bangladeshis are receiving Tk 2 crore compensation from Etihad Airways

The UAE Airways Authority has been requested to pay the compensation within the next 60 days.

The two compensated Bangladeshi passengers are Tanjin Brishti and her mother Nahid Sultana Yuthi. Nahid Sultana Yuthi is a lawyer in the Supreme Court, she is the wife of the president of the Juba League, Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash.

After a lengthy hearing of an injunction seeking redress for the incident nine years ago, Judge Md. Ruled that the rule issued on the issue of compensation was appropriate. An Ashraful Kamal High Court bench and Judge Rajik Al Jalil delivered the verdict on Thursday.

Attorney Manzil Morshed appeared before the petitioners in court. He was assisted by attorneys Ripon Barai and Sanjay Mandal.

Attorney Ajmalul Hassan QC appeared for Etihad Airways. Md. I was with him. Aziz Ullah Emon. Assistant Attorney General Waish Al Haruni represented the state.

The court ruled that the type of harassment and torture inflicted on the two Bangladeshi passengers at the Abu Dhabi airport could not be measured by the fine.

The court also warned Etihad Airways not to treat any passengers in the future on the basis of gender or caste.

Attorney Manzil Morshed told reporters that the verdict came in light of negligence and the Trott law.

He said: “When a Bangladeshi citizen travels outside the country, it is the responsibility of the officers in charge of the Bangladesh Mission Abroad to take care of their facilities and rights. Officials were appointed for Bangladeshi missions abroad through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“According to the Business Rules, your responsibility is to take action if the rights of any citizen outside the country are violated. But despite the written allegations of harassment, torture and deportation at the Abu Dhabi airport, the Ministry of Relations Foreign Ministry did not take any action against those responsible Abu Dhabi has not brought any charges against the government.

“As a result, the court petition was filed against the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, the Secretary and President of Civil Aviation, the officer in charge of the Airport Police Station, the Etihad Operations Manager, the Country Manager and a total of seven more people. “

The lawyer said that Etihad Airways authorities had admitted the truth in interpreting the incident in the court order. However, they blamed the behavior of the passengers.

A request was made to the court seeking instructions to send video footage of the incident to prove the allegations.

Etihad Airways authorities did not send the video to court, saying the video was collected and sent.

The mother and daughter were arrested and harassed at the Abu Dhabi airport on June 26, 2011.

Passenger Tanjin Brishti filed a lawsuit in High Court against Etihad Airways authorities seeking appropriate action and compensation.

The Superior Court ordered a preliminary hearing with regulations on July 14 of that year.

In the order, the court ordered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to investigate the allegations and submit a report. At the same time, the national director of Etihad Airways was asked to appear in court and explain.

At the same time, the rule asks why complaints of arrest, harassment and torture should not be presented to the appropriate authorities at trial and why these two passengers should not be instructed to pay compensation.

After the Etihad Airways country manager appeared and explained, when the case’s rule hearing began, the court of law Sheikh Hassan Arif expressed his inability to hear the case.

Subsequently, the case was heard by the President of the Supreme Court. Ashraful Kamal and Judge Rajik Al Jalil were benched from the High Court.

The bench gave its verdict on Thursday after the hearing.
