Police arrested four children for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl in the Runsi village of the Rangshree union in Barisal’s Bakerganj upazila. The detainees are between 9 and 10 years old. The boy’s father filed a case under the Child and Women’s Abuse Act on Tuesday night (October 6).

Four children were arrested on Wednesday (October 8) and sent to the Judicial Court of First Instance. Judge Enayetullah ordered them to be sent to the Jessore Youth Development Center.

The plaintiff in the case said he called his daughter Sunday afternoon and raped her in the garden adjacent to the home. The matter came to light when he fell ill on Monday night. He was taken to the Upazila Health Complex on Tuesday morning and sent to Barisal for a medical examination.

Acknowledging the truth of the incident, Israt Jerin Jui, a doctor at Bakerganj Upazila Health Complex, said the girl was sent to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for a medical examination if there was any suspicion of rape.

Bakerganj Police Station OC Abul Kalam said that during interrogation, the detainees said that one of them had raped them and the others had cooperated with him.

The additional superintendent of police (Bakerganj Circle) said Sudipta Sarkar, as both sides are children. Therefore, measures will be taken against the accused according to current law.
