He said that since time immemorial, people from different tribal communities in Tripura used to collect seeds from bamboo gardens in the hills. They used to take rice out of them and eat it themselves. However, this time the government has adopted a plan to bring this rice to market commercially.
He further said that in the past, the tribes used to break the bamboo seeds in the traditional way and take out the rice. For the first time, these have been broken in the machine and the rice has become very beautiful. Like bamboo, bamboo rice is low in sugar, cholesterol, and fat and high in protein.
What species of rice are obtained from bamboo? In response, Sameer Jamatia said that only the radish fruit is relatively large and apple-shaped, so rice is available in all other species except bamboo.
He also said that a total of 20 species of bamboo grow naturally in the state of Tripura.
Initially, the price of bamboo per kg was set at 6,000 rupees. These rices are completely organic because no one has grown them on earth to collect them from the bamboo in the forest. He also fears that bamboo will become very popular, like bamboo bottles and cookies.
However, bamboo is a bit weird because it is the largest grass species in the world. So once the flowers and seeds are captured as grass, the entire bamboo garden dies. And it takes up to 40 years for a bamboo garden to produce flowers and fruit. For all these reasons, bamboo is a rare material. However, if you wish, it is possible to catch flowers and fruits in the bamboo forest in less time. That is the cutting method. If the seedlings are produced by cutting a 35-year-old bamboo, it is possible to bear fruit in the bamboo garden at the age of 5 years. The following year, after planting the bamboo seedlings, 8 to 10 buds emerge from one seedling. A spike becomes a full-fledged bamboo in one year. As a result, it will bear fruit in 5. Another characteristic of bamboo is that all the trees in the garden bear flowers and fruits in one season. Therefore, it will be possible to obtain seeds commercially from the cut bamboo saplings in a short time, said Samir Jamatia.
