A Chittagong court ordered an investigation into a case brought against a schoolboy for allegedly killing a schoolboy in the name of “crossfire” after he was picked up from his home in the Bayazid Bostami police station area. Although the plaintiff brought charges against 13 people, the court accepted charges against six people. He ordered the Deputy Commissioner (Response) of the Intelligence Department to investigate the matter and submit a report by November 23.

The six people the court ordered an investigation against are Bayazid Bostami Police Station Deputy Inspector Golam Mohammad Nasim Hossain, Forkan Sheriff, Local Councilor Mubarak Ali, his deputy Shamsu, local Ilias and Mithu Kumar Dey.
Confirming the matter, attorney Arbindu Das Chowdhury said the case has been brought on the murder charge under sections 302 and 306.
However, Johra Begum, mother of the plaintiff and murdered schoolboy Joynal Abedin, also mentioned the names of the then CO of Bayazid Ataur Police Station Rahman Khandaker, Deputy Inspector Noman, Dipankar, Agent Alauddin, Masud Rana and local residents Harun and Lal Sumon as defendants in their RG. But the court did not learn of the charges against him.
In the RG of the case, Johra mentioned: “Councilor PS Shamsu came to the house on the night of August 31 last year. After he went to talk to Joynal, in the middle of the night, 20-30 policemen came in minibuses, motorcycles and jeeps and took my son from home. The next morning he went to the police station but could not find the boy. The next night I went to the police station and saw the boy. But they didn’t let the boy talk to me. Late on the night of September 1, three men arrived and said blood would be needed for the boy. Then I found out that my son had died in a crossfire. “
Regarding not presenting a case for a long time, Johra Begum said: ‘I was unable to present a case out of fear for so long. I have three daughters. Today I have presented a case in collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission.
Incidentally, on the night of September 1, 2019, Joynal Abedin was killed in a ‘crossfire’ in the Amin Jute Mill area, police said. Police also fired in self-defense in response to the arrest of Joynal’s accomplices.
