This time, taxpayers don’t have the opportunity to file their tax returns online. The National Revenue Board (NBR) has stopped filing returns online due to various errors. Relevant NBR sources confirmed the matter on Wednesday (October 7).

In the last three years, many taxpayers have filed their income tax returns online, but this time they have to file their income tax in the traditional way.
In November 2016, former Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith launched the online system by presenting his statement.
It is known that in fiscal year 2016-17, about five thousand taxpayers have filed their returns online. In fiscal year 2018-19, 5,748 people filed their returns online. In the last year, 7,208 people have taken advantage of this opportunity. On average, 22 to 23 lakh of taxpayers file returns each year. However, less than one percent of returns online.
To increase interest in filing returns online, a special tax exemption of Taka 2,000 is granted in the current financial year. This generated excitement among taxpayers. But taxpayers cannot take advantage of that opportunity.
