The CID arrested Father Shariful Islam on charges of raping a 16-year-old girl. DIG Sheikh Nazmul Alam made the remarks at a press conference at the CID headquarters in Malibagh on Wednesday (October 8).
The CID arrested alleged devotee Shariful Islam from Manikganj on Tuesday (October 6).
According to the DIG, Shariful from Basantapur Bagdangni remote area char under the Harirampur police station in Manikganj suddenly became a monk. His wife left him two years before he became a monk. At this time, the girl also went to her grandfather’s house in the Dighapatiya East Haguria village in Natore. 7 days before Eid-ul-Azha, Shariful brought the girl home with various tactics. After bringing her home, he began to torture her physically and mentally. At one point, he raped the girl by showing her fear. When people came to the house, he did not allow anyone to meet or speak with the girl.
Sheikh Nazmul Alam said the girl tactfully communicated with her grandparents. Later, the mother and grandmother rescued the girl. Later, the girl became a plaintiff and filed a case against her father at the Natore police station in Baraigram under the Prevention of Abuse of Women and Children Act.
According to the CID, Shariful confessed to raping the girl during preliminary interrogation.
According to the case, the girl said that when she told her grandparents about the physical abuse she suffered, they prohibited her from telling anyone in society.
In response to a question, Sheikh Nazmul Alam said: ‘We have spoken with Shariful. She does not have a mental illness. She tortured her daughter in this way with a healthy brain. ‘
