Two Bangladeshis involved in illegal activities were arrested in West Bengal, India, local police said. Two Aadhaar cards were recovered from one of them and a large quantity of drugs were recovered from the other, Indian media claimed.
The Hindustan Times reported Tuesday that local police had arrested a Bangladeshi named Badruzzaman Bilas Billal Ahmed alias Rasedul Zaman from the West Bengal town of Basirhat. Two Aadhaar cards were found in his possession. One is from Delhi and the other is from North 24 Parganas of West Bengal.
According to the West Bengal Police, investigators have received a few more documents from the detained Bangladeshi. He has visited India from Bangladesh many times. He has visited West Bengal, Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Rajasthan.
Rasedul Zaman said during questioning that he was involved in various crimes in Bangladesh, local police said. The Bangladesh police are looking for him. That is why he hid in India.
The judge ordered Rasedul to remain in police custody for 10 days when he was taken to Basirhat subdivision court on Tuesday. Investigators are investigating whether he has any militant involvement. The reason for his visit to various states of India is also being investigated.
