Delwar had raped the woman at gunpoint in Noakhali’s Begumganj more than once. Delwar also threatened to commit an organized rape with members of his own forces if he prevented the rape.
Al-Ahmad Faizul Kabir, director of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), said that information that he had spoken with the rape victim had been confirmed. He told reporters in the auditorium of the Noakhali Judicial Magistrates Court this afternoon.
Faizul Kabir said members of his investigation committee, including himself, spoke with the rape victim at the Begumganj police station at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. It is reported that a year and a half ago, Delwar first entered his home and raped him at gunpoint. Soon after, Delwar raped her again in a boat. Delwar was furious with her for not being able to rape her later.
He further said that the rape victim will present a rape case in court. The victim’s statement under section 22 will be re-recorded in court. After the investigation, the final report will be presented to the chairman of the Human Rights Commission.
Noakhali Super Md. Police Alamgir Hossain said the case was closed based on what the woman learned during preliminary questioning and the incident she had described. The investigation of the case has just begun. If you file a report of the rape, the police will file a case and begin an investigation.
