Two students have been ripped off a human anti-rape chain in front of the Fatulla launch ghat in Narayanganj. The event occurred when people from the ghat authorities focused on placing vehicles in front of the launch ghat.

The incident, which took place just 300 to 400 meters from the Fatullah model police station, was immediately reported to the police. But the students complained that it was not possible to rescue the seriously injured at the right time as the police were late to the scene.

The injured were identified as Milon from Dhaka T&T College and Masum from Bandar Kadam Rasool College. The students filed a complaint at the police station Tuesday afternoon. After receiving the news, the police and journalists came to rescue the injured.

Witnesses said that on Tuesday, thousands of students participated in a human chain organized under the banner of students from all walks of life in Fatullah to demand justice for the rape and murder of women and children across the country.

The students requested not to park their vehicles in front of the Fatulla launch ghat during the human chain. She went on to tell the ghat authorities that this could cause a traffic jam. When the argument broke out, Nihad, Hridoy, Tanvir and their followers led by Munna Bahini who were guarding the ghat attacked the students and took Milon and Masum away.

Both of Milon’s arms and both of Masum’s legs were broken in the attack. At that time, the students ran to the police station just 300 meters from the scene and reported. But as the police delayed the matter, they beat the two students with hammers and seriously injured their limbs.

Police rescued the two injured after the assailants fled after being hit at one point.

Shubh, the BCL district leader who participated in the human chain, said: “At one stage of the discussion, I went and appeared.” At that moment, the attackers slapped two students. When I tried to fix it, they also attacked me and took both of them away.

He complained that he went to the police station and asked them to rescue the two students who had been quickly picked up. But the police went to the scene too late. The students were beaten with hammers during that time. If I had arrived on time, I might not have been beaten up so much. They are being treated at the Fatullah Mostafiz Center.

Model Fatullah OC Aslam Hossain police station said police rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control. Currently the situation is normal.
