Shiuli Nowshad, a councilor (reserved) of the city corporation, has been fined 60,000 taka for raping a widow in Narayanganj port.
The widow (35) accused Khoka, the landlord in the area, of raping her more than once.
After briefing the local councilor on the matter, she sat at the councilor’s own residence in the Dori Sonakanda area on Monday night and imposed the fine on behalf of the referee, locals said.
The widow said that the signature remained on the white paper of the rapist setting the time to pay the fine within a month.
Locals said that Khoka Mia, the son of a landlord, raped a widow, a mother of three, in the Bandar Dori Sonakanda area of Narayanganj City Corporation’s 20th district more than once.
Khoka also raped the widow against her will last Sunday night. The widow informed local dignitaries about the incident that night. The rapist’s mother Khoka Mia took refuge in Shiuli Nowshad, a reserved councilor in Nasik (districts 19, 20 and 21) to solve the problem locally.
An arbitration trial was held Monday night at the residence of Councilor Shiuli Nowshad. Councilor Shiuli Nowshad fined rapist Khoka 60,000 taka in the arbitration trial.
The widow told reporters: “Khoka, the owner’s son, used to bother me since they rented the house.” At one point she showed me the temptation to get married and build a physical relationship. The physical relationship is closed due to delay in marriage. Khoka was raped on Sunday night. The matter was reported locally.
On Monday night, Councilor Shiuli Upper sat at home and fined him 60,000 taka in arbitration. In addition to directing me to pay the fine in a month, the Matubbars took my signature on a white piece of paper.
When asked if he had the authority to arbitrate crimes such as rape, Councilor Shiuli Nowshad said by phone: “It is not possible to talk to you on a mobile phone.” We talk soon and keep up the good content.
The OC Port Police said. Fakhruddin Bhuiyan said: I am not aware of the incident of the rape of a widow. Action will be taken if any complaints are received.
