Abdur Rahim, principal of Karlachhari RS High School in Langadu upazila de Rangamati, has been charged with raping a female student. The victim has filed a written complaint against the teacher with the president of the school management committee. Not only that, the girl’s mother also filed a rape case at the Langadu Police Station on Sunday (October 4) evening.
According to the complaint filed on October 1, the girl (18) went to the school around 10:30 am on September 25 to look for the goat. On the way back, Principal Abdur Rahim called the girl into a bedroom at the back of the school to give her a lemon. As soon as the girl entered the room, Abdur Rahim closed the door, raped her and threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident.
Mangal Kanti Chakma, chairman of the school management committee and president of Atarkachhara Union Parishad, said: “The raped girl filed a written complaint on October 1. I was unable to sit in the meeting due to the busy schedule. A meeting will be held on Tuesday. Legal action will be taken after verifying the veracity of the accusation.
The mother of the rape victim said: “This year my daughter passed the SSC at Karlachhari RS High School. I myself am a member of the school management committee. What if my daughter is unsure with the teacher? I want a fair trial for this incident. ‘
The girl’s father said: ‘Immediately after the incident, I informed the area president and the chairman of the school committee, Mangal Kanti Chakma, after discussing with the area elders. She assures us that she will see. But 7 days after the verbal complaint, no action was taken and on October 1, my daughter filed a written complaint. We are not receiving a fair trial for this incident because we are poor. I want a proper punishment for my daughter’s defeat. ‘
Principal Abdur Rahim, a father of four, is known to have once taught as an assistant teacher at Mainimukh Islamia Alim Madrasa. He then joined Ugalchhari Mahajanpara High School as a principal. He later left his job at that school and joined Karlachhari RS High School as a principal.
Abdur Rahim denied the accusations and said: ‘My school is under construction, so I go to school almost all the time. On September 25 I went to school. But I didn’t meet that girl. False accusations have been made against me. Only after proper investigation will truth and lies be uncovered.
