Noakhali: Police arrested two more people, including a member of the local UP, for torturing a naked woman (38) in Noakhali’s Begumganj upazila and spreading the video on social media.
So far, the police have arrested six people, including Delwar, the main culprit in the case, and Badal, the main defendant in the case.
On Monday (October 5), the police conducted a day and night operation and arrested two more people, including a member of the UP.
Those arrested are Sohag Member of District No. 9 of Eklashpur Union Parishad (UP) and Saju, 21, son of Lokman Mia from Nawab Ali Bepari Bari in East Eklashpur village of the same union.
The officer in charge (CO) of the Begumganj model police station, Harunur Rashid Chowdhury, confirmed the matter to banglanews on Tuesday (October 6).
Earlier on Sunday (October 4) at noon, 32 days after the incident, a video of the housewife being tortured was posted on social media Facebook and went viral. For the last 32 days since the incident, local defendants Delwar, Badal, Kalam and their associates have been laying siege to the abused housewife’s family for a few days. At one point, when her entire family was forced to leave their homes, the entire incident remained hidden from the locals and the police administration for a long time. When the incident came to light, the police and the RAB carried out several raids and arrested six defendants, including the main defendant.
